it connect to your asterisk via AMI, no need change dialplan so it would not affect any thing on your original system.
it is billing based callerid, u just add the callerid of the sip phone to astercc then u can billing that phone
u can also use astercc to grab realtime calls in your asterisk, it will insert new record to one mysql table, and remove it when the call hangup. it might be useful for u to make a call center system, and in fact asterCRM is working with astercc.
